Ian is a Managing Quantity Surveyor with eight years of experience in construction, engineering, and housing. Holding an MSc in Quantity Surveying and Commercial Management (with distinction) from Liverpool John Moores University, he is currently on the CICES pathway to attain membership status. Ian has worked primarily with Tier 1 contractors, specialising in water and highway projects. He is currently the commercial lead on the £110m National Emergency Area Retrofit (NEAR) scheme for National Highways. Ian is proficient in managing NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, handling package management from tendering to final account, and is skilled in commercial reporting, forecasting, and presenting to senior management.

Outside of work, he enjoys staying fit and playing golf and is a dedicated supporter of Everton FC.

Josh is a highly experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with over 12 years of expertise in managing complex projects across multiple sectors, including the UK’s water, highways, and nuclear infrastructure. His extensive commercial management and cost control knowledge has been instrumental in delivering successful outcomes on large-scale projects.

In addition to his UK experience, Josh has worked internationally, contributing his skills to one of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious Giga projects, further broadening his professional capabilities and understanding of global construction practices.

Outside of work, Josh is passionate about sports and enjoys staying active. He is an avid football enthusiast and a keen golfer, regularly spending his free time on the pitch or the golf course. His love for sports mirrors his competitive and goal-driven nature, both in his professional and personal life.

James is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 18 years of experience in the construction and engineering industry. During his career, he has worked with Tier 1 and Tier 2 main contractors and specialist subcontractors working on projects ranging from £1m to £250m in value across the highways, water and building sectors from ECI phase to the Final Account.

James’ experience includes working as a commercial manager leading a team of 12 quantity surveyors on a project worth £250m. Additionally, James has experience in contractual claims, mediation, and adjudications. He has experience in NEC3, NEC4, JCT, FIDIC, and bespoke contract forms.

James has an MSc in Construction Law and Practice (with Distinction) from the University of Salford and a BSc (Hons) in Quantity Surveying. He holds professional membership with RICS and is currently working towards Fellowship.

When not working, James enjoys spending time with his young family and used to enjoy watching Manchester United, an activity which has taken its toll since Sir Alex Fergurson. He has recently taken up skiing, where Novo’s Director, Chris Turner, has adopted the unofficial role of his instructor, which speaks volumes about his current abilities.

Alan is a Senior Quantity Surveyor with over 45 years of experience in the construction industry. His career spans a diverse range of projects, from newly built commercial offices and airport extensions to the restoration of stately homes and nuclear decommissioning. Alan has managed projects ranging from £20 million to £3.2 billion, working under both JCT and NEC contracts. His extensive experience covers all aspects of pre-and post-contract commercial management, having worked for subcontractors, Tier 1 contractors, and consultancies. 

Outside of work, Alan supports local charities and enjoys horse racing, with connections to well-known trainers in both flat and national hunt racing. A former semi-professional footballer, he now enjoys walking and the outdoors.

Natalie is an enthusiastic and experienced professional with extensive knowledge of the built environment. With a strong foundation in the commercial and quantity surveying fields, she possesses a deep understanding of the industry’s intricacies, which enables her to effectively address and meet the needs of our clients.

Throughout her career, Natalie has demonstrated a commitment to cultivating strong client relationships, ensuring that their requirements are always a top priority. Her ability to listen attentively and communicate clearly fosters trust and collaboration, enabling her to deliver tailored solutions that precisely meet client objectives.

Natalie’s passion for the built environment drives her to stay informed about industry developments, ensuring she remains attuned to emerging trends and best practices. This dedication makes her a valuable asset to our team as she continues to build lasting partnerships and contribute to the success of our clients and their projects.

Georgia is the Business Development Manager at Novo, having joined the company in July 2024. With a strong commitment to leveraging her experience and enthusiasm, she aims to drive growth and success within the organisation.

In her role at Novo Consultants, Georgia focuses on expanding the client base and nurturing existing relationships. She is dedicated to understanding clients’ needs and ensuring that the company provides solutions that align with their objectives. Georgia looks forward to collaborating closely with clients to enhance their experience and deliver meaningful results. Additionally, she is keen to identify new opportunities to contribute to Novo Consultant’s presence across the UK and support its reputation in the built environment sector.

Outside of work, Georgia enjoys travelling and immersing herself in new cultures. She is also an avid hiker, finding both adventure and tranquillity in nature, and she stays active through weightlifting and various fitness classes.

Matt brings over 12 years of expertise in talent and development across diverse industries, successfully placing a broad range of talent at various levels. As a seasoned executive head-hunter, he is skilled in various assessment tools and techniques designed to evaluate behavioural traits and cultural fit. Matt joined the team in June 2024 to spearhead the expansion of Novo Consultants presence throughout the UK.

In addition to focusing on business development, Matt leads the Aurea Recruitment brand, which provides comprehensive permanent recruitment solutions to all of Novo Consultant’s clients. His leadership within Aurea is characterised by a commitment to quality and client satisfaction, ensuring that every placement contributes to the long-term success of both the candidates and the organisations they join.

Outside of work, Matt enjoys spending time with his family and values a healthy work-life balance. He stays active through various fitness activities, has a passion for motorsport, and is an avid football fan, often watching games and supporting his favourite teams. Travel is also a significant interest for him, as he loves exploring new destinations and experiences.

Chris is a Chartered Quantity Surveyor with over 16 years of experience in the construction and engineering industry. He spent much of his career with a Tier 1 contractor and has experience on high-value highways and civil engineering projects. Chris has a wide understanding of pre- and post-commercial and contractual management, specialising in NEC forms of contract, complex commercial incentive models, and resolving contractual claims. His experience includes sitting within the commercial leadership team of a £1.3bn NEC Alliance contract, with accountability for the cost reporting and payments functions together with a wider advisory role.

Chris has a BSc(Hons) in Quantity Surveying (1st Class) and professional memberships, including MRICS, MCIInstCES, and MCIArb. He recently co-authored his first article for NEC on disallowed costs and the cost of subcontractor disputes in NEC4 ECC.

When not working, Chris enjoys staying active through running, cycling, bouldering, walking, and skiing (badly).

Jason is the Managing Director of Novo Consultants, with over 30 years of experience in senior leadership roles. He specialises in developing strategic commercial plans that drive business growth, create new opportunities, and maximise potential. Jason is highly skilled in guiding businesses in the right direction through comprehensive commercial strategies.

With a hands-on management style, Jason is deeply involved in overseeing both the company’s operations and client projects, managing everything from tender stages through to final accounts. His expertise spans a wide range of construction sectors, including building, housing, infrastructure, power, and M&E.

Jason is a specialist in managing complex, high-value, and disputed commercial accounts, where he prepares strategic recovery plans to ensure successful outcomes. He also conducts tender reviews to identify project risks and offers clear, practical advice on necessary contractual adjustments. By presenting the agreed contract terms to project teams, Jason ensures they begin with a strong understanding of their contractual obligations.

His expertise in stakeholder management allows him to build trust and long-term relationships, quickly establishing cooperative agreements that benefit all parties involved.
